E Flute Corrugation Machine

E-Flute has the highest number of flutes per foot and offers a flat surface for excellent printing and crush resistance. It is also ideal for mailer boxes and custom die cut boxes.


E flute corrugated box is a lightweight packaging option with great printability. It is also ideal for shipping and mailing purposes. It has a beauty that is enhanced by offset printing and can be made more appealing with various finishes. It is a sturdy and durable box that can protect your products during transit.

The thickness of a flute type and the number of flutes per lineal foot affects the resistance to crash, structural rigidity, stacking strength, and printability. For example, a micro-flute has the lowest thickness and the fewest flutes per linear foot. This type of board offers excellent crush resistance and stacking strength, while still providing good cushioning protection.

Other flute types include F and BC. F flutes are half the thickness of E flutes but are denser, meaning that they have more flutes per square inch. This provides extra protection during transit and storage, making it an excellent choice for fast food clamshell packaging.


F-Flute is the newest flute. Half the thickness of E-Flute, it is being used for specialty packaging, point of purchase displays and foot ware. It has higher flute density and provides more rigidity than folding cartons. It also has lower fibre content allowing converters to reduce solid waste.

B-Flute is the second most common flute size and offers a good balance of printing properties, stacking strength and crush resistance. It is typically combined with light weight liners and is ideal for complex die cuts, pads, dividers, partitions and inner packaging.

It is the ideal profile for display work and high end retail packaging. It has a superior surface for printing and is suitable for screen, flexo or can be printed by new generation litho machines. It is also great for one-piece folder boxes which are designed to be concise, elegant and simple to put together. It can also be made with a combination of B and C flute for extra strength where required.


The C flute is the thickest corrugated flute on the market, offering good cushioning and stacking strength. It also resists crust and is difficult to compress, making it ideal for shipping boxes and retail packaging. It is the most common flute size, accounting for about 80% of all corrugated boxes.

F flute is a thinner flute than A, with about 90 flutes per foot. It is often used for small retail packaging and offers great printability. It is also a popular choice for fast food clamshells because of its thermal qualities.

B flute is one-fourth as thick as C, so it takes up less space in transit and storage. This reduces shipping costs and energy use. It is also ideal for smaller products like cosmetics, ceramics, or pizza boxes. It is the most widely used flute in Europe, where it accounts for about 80% of all boxes. It is easy to recognize by its wavy appearance.


The keys that control the flute’s pitch are made of cork and felt. They may also be plated with gold or silver to add richness to the sound. The keys are fitted with pins and screws to hold them firmly in place against the holes they cover.

The flute’s resonant tube, from the main bore to the embouchure riser, is very narrow at its mouthpiece end, which is why high notes require more effort to play than low ones.
